چکیده

It is by now well known that symmetries may be broken at high temperature. However, in renormalizable supersymmetric theories any internal symmetry gets always restored. In nonrenormalizable theories the situation is far less simple. We review here some recent work which seems to indicate that renormalizability is not essential for the restoration of internal symmetries in supersymmetry. Based on the talk by G. Senjanović at SUSY96, University of Maryland, 1996. [email protected] [email protected] 1

We investigate the five and six-dimensional black strings within EinsteinMaxwell theory. The extremal black strings are endowed with the null Killing symmetry. We study the propagation of Einstein-Maxwell modes in the extremal black string background by using this symmetry. It turns out that one graviton is a propagating mode, while both the Maxwell(F) and three-form (H) fields are non-propagat...

Consider Hamiltonian Z(2) gauge theory in a heat bath with temperature T. The stringtension at low T and the free energy of domainwalls at high T can be computed from one and the same observable. We show by explicit calculation that domain walls in hot Z(2) gauge theory have good thermodynamical behaviour. This is due to roughening of the wall, which expresses the restoration of transla-tional ...
